Privacy at Strike Log
Strike Log is a reading site. It has no accounts, no forms and no tracking of its own, which makes this page short and makes most of the usual questions unnecessary.
The short version
This site sets no cookies of its own, runs no analytics of its own, has no login, no comment system and no forms. It publishes pages and serves them. If you read an entry and close the tab, nothing about that visit is retained by the desk.
Server logs
Like any web host, the server that delivers these pages records ordinary request information: the address the request came from, the page requested, the time, the referring page if the browser sent one, and the user agent string. This is standard hosting behaviour and it exists so the site can be kept working and abuse can be identified.
These records are not joined to anything, not used to build a profile, and not shared with anyone for advertising. They age out on the host's ordinary retention schedule and are not exported into any other system.
Third parties involved in loading a page
Three external services are requested by the browser when a page loads, and each one necessarily sees the request that fetches it. They are listed here so nothing is hidden behind a general statement.
| Service | What it provides | What it necessarily sees |
|---|---|---|
| A public CDN | The Bootstrap stylesheet and script bundle | The request for those files, with the usual network metadata |
| A public CDN | The icon font used for small interface marks | The same |
| A font service | The three typefaces the site is set in | The same |
Those services have their own policies, which apply to their own requests and are outside the desk's control. Nothing on this site passes them anything about you beyond what a browser sends when it asks for a file.
Links that leave the site
Some entries link to external documentation and to automation platforms where the subject of the paragraph calls for it. Following a link takes you to a site with its own policies and its own collection practices, and the desk has no visibility into and no control over what happens there.
The desk does not add tracking parameters to outbound links, does not use redirect hops, and does not use shortened URLs. A link points at the destination it appears to point at.
If you write to the address on the corrections page, the desk holds that message. It is read, it may lead to a change in an entry, and that is the extent of it. Addresses are not added to any list, not shared, and not used to send anything that was not asked for. There is no mailing list to unsubscribe from because there is no mailing list.
Children
The site is technical documentation about transaction execution and is not directed at children. Nothing here is designed for or marketed to them, and no age-related data is collected because no personal data is collected.
Changes to this page
If the site ever adds something that collects information, this page will say so before it does, and will name the thing rather than describing it in general terms. There is no current plan to add analytics, advertising or any form of visitor measurement.
Questions
Anything about this page can go to the same address as everything else, listed on the corrections page. A privacy question will be answered as directly as the technical ones are, and if the honest answer is that the desk does not know, that is what the reply will say.
